A letter to the Scarborough Community
As a result of our advocacy the McGowan Labor Government has announced its intention to demolish and take steps to revitalise this derelict North Beach site.
Local residents have been made many promises over the years; however, I am proud to be your local member in the government that will finally demolish the old derelict site and plan a renewal project that will welcome new members to our diverse and strong community.
A tender for demolition of the site will open today, Tuesday 21 March, with the demolition anticipated to be completed this year.
Following demolition, the two-hectare site will be released to the market, with the proposed revitalisation project to include a mix of social, affordable and private housing.
North Beach is an incredible location, with an equally incredible community - over time the revitalisation will achieve a residential development which will improve the quality, affordability, diversity and amenity of housing stock in our suburb.
