Backed by an $18 million investment in this Budget, the Surf CAT will deliver a new, high-frequency free bus service running every 10 minutes throughout the day between Stirling Station and Scarborough Beach. This service will run alongside Route 990, making it easier than ever for locals and visitors to access the coast.
But it’s more than just a new bus—it’s a total transport refresh for Scarborough. The project includes upgraded bus stops with real-time passenger information, extended routes connecting to Karrinyup Shopping Centre, and a unique paintjob for the Surf CAT to reflect the vibrancy of Scarborough’s coastline.
Importantly, to keep traffic moving, new dedicated bus lanes will be added at the West Coast Highway and Scarborough Beach Road intersection. Construction begins later this year, and the Surf CAT is scheduled to launch in December.
